Inside Receivers Coach Dave Nichol Headed to USC

Mississippi State Inside Receivers Coach Dave Nichol will be leaving Starkville to take a job on Lincoln Riley’s staff at Southern Cal according to 247Sports.

Nichol has worked under Mike Leach since 2016 at both Washington State and Mississippi State, and worked with Leach as a graduate assistant at Texas Tech from 2003-2005.

Leaving to go work under Lincoln Riley shouldn’t come as a huge surprise, as Nichol and Riley worked together as graduate assistants at Texas Tech from 2003-2005, and worked together at East Carolina from 2012-2014 with Nichol as the receivers coach and Riley as the offensive coordinator.

Potential replacements that immediately come to mind include former Texas Tech quarterback and USC offensive coordinator Graham Harrell, and former Mississippi State wide receiver and current Utah wide receivers coach Chad Bumphis.
